Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Gordon "Nuts" Coventry (1901-1968). The artist's image number - 55 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled notation '1920-37 (1929)'. The artwork is signed and dated. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Coventry played 306 games and kicked an extraordinary1299 goals (then a league record) for the Collingwood Football Club (1920-37). He represented Victoria 25 times, and played in five Collingwood premiership sides.
