Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian batsman, Arthur Lindsay Hassett (1913 - 1993). The artist's original image number - 88 - and subject's name and country, are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 43 Tests (1938-53), Hassett scored 3073 runs - including 10 centuries - at an average of 46.56. In 2003, he was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
