Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian Test all-rounder, Robert Baddeley "Bobby" Simpson. The artist's original image number - 115 - and name of the subject and country are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled year '1964'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 62 Tests (1957-68, 1977-78), Simpson scored 4,869 runs at an average of 46.81 (including 10 centuries), captured 71 wickets at 42.26, and held 110 catches.
