Brief Description
Chromolithograph, full-length caricature portrait of Lord Hawke (cricketer) seated on a chair with cricket bat resting across his knees, against a plain pale green background. Hawke wears a red, yellow and black striped cap and blazer over cricket whites, pads, and also holds what looks to be a batting glove. Hawke's signature is reproduced at bottom of the image between his feet " Hawke"; below this is the title of the series of which this print is one, "YORKSHIRE CRICKET", published by the magazine Vanity Fair; the pseudonym of the artist Leslie 'Spy' Ward is printed to the left of the chair; the lithographers' studio printed at bottom left beneath image 'Vincent Brooks, Day & Son'. Above the image at left is printed VANITY FAIR and at right the date SEPT 24 1892. A small crown is also depicted at top right of image in grey tone. Image framed in white window mount and moulded wood frame with framer's label verso.
