Brief Description
A document with a blank white cover, enveloped in a blue dust jacket with the City of Melbourne coat-of-arms on the front, and the title: 'XVI/OLYMPIAD/1956/MELBOURNE' on the back. It is a prospectus published in 1949 by the Melbourne Invitation Committee, (with support from relevant societies, councils, local, state, and federal governments), for the I.O.C. proposing the city of Melbourne as the place to host the 1956 Games. Architectural plans propose the site of the Royal Agricultural Showgrounds as the site for the major venues and the Olympic Village.
