This diploma was designed by another Australian athletics champion of the 1930s, Clarice Kennedy. Kennedy won numerous events at these National Games but was not selected for the Olympics in controversial circumstances. When the Olympic team were farewelled in Sydney on the 12th of May, Kennedy was presented with a watch for her diploma design. I'm sure this was no consolation for missing out on a chance to run in the Berlin Games.
