Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square, card surround. The picture was taken during the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and shows the former Coles building (Store Number 2) at 299-307 Bourke Street. The exterior of the building (constructed in 1929) has been decorated with a large tableaux that features a man standing next to a river, with smoke rings going upwards to a sign that says "Coles signal a message / GOODWILL TO ALL NATIONS", and next to it the Olympic rings and torch.
