Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square, card surround. The picture was taken at night during the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games, and shows the facade of the Georges Department Store building on Collins Street. The building is decorated with a canopy over the entrance featuring two doves and the flags of the world, and replica Classical statues of athletes displayed in the backlit first floor arcade.
