Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square, card surround. The picture was taken at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the opening ceremony of the 1956 Olympic Games, and shows a group of athletes marching in formation. The athletes in the foreground are female and they wear white skirts, dark jackets and berets. Beyond them, others have assembled behind national flags and placards with the names of countries on them.
