Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square, card surround. The picture was taken at the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the opening ceremony of the 1956 Olympic Games, and shows an uncovered stand crowded with spectators, and a covered stand (the Southern Stand), also full of people. On top of a white building between the two stands is a brazier holding the Olympic flame.
