Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square, card surround. The picture shows the Melbourne Cricket Ground during the opening or closing ceremony of 1956 Olympic Games. The viewpoint is from the north of the stadium, looking south over the playing field and running track, with the Southern Stand beyond. A group of flag bearers are arranged in a semi circle around a podium. Behind them is a line of figures holding signs, and a group of athletes, with a marching band and artillery beyond.
