Brief Description
Colour slide printed on plastic with a square card surround. The picture was taken during the 1956 Olympic Games, and shows the inside of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, looking from a stand over the running track, where athletes are standing near their starting blocks, preparing for a race. Several officials (timekeepers) are sitting on a temporary metal structure. In the background is the covered Southern Stand.
