Object Detail

Brief Description
An ornate bronze coloured spoon. The shallow spoon bowl is shaped like an Olympic victory medal and features a seated goddess accompanied by three items associated with victory, i.e. the laurel wreath, the palm, and the oil-filled painted amphora. A chariot race proceeds in the background. The stem of the spoon features two lions holding up a crest, acting as the handle of the spoon. The crest is a coloured enamel reproduction of the 1988 Seoul Olympics emblem, comprising of a blue, red, and yellow spiral. This is crowned on top of the Olympic rings emblem, with the text below reading 'SEOUL 1988'. The spoon sits within the cavity of a brown moulded plastic holder, slid into a blue card box with a clear plastic window.
