Brief Description
A rectangular metallic tin, with a hinged lid. The top of the lid features an illustration of the Main Stadium (Melbourne Cricket Ground), of the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games. At the upper left corner is the City of Melbourne coat-of-arms. At the upper right corner is the Olympic Rings emblem, with text above it reading: 'MAIN STADIUM FOR THE XVITH OLYMPIAD, MELBOURNE'. Around each of the sides of the tin base are flags of the world flanking the Melbourne coat-of-arms, except at the back, where a concise description of the M.C.G. is provided. On the underside of the base is a pictorial map of Melbourne with the location of all event venues provided.
