Brief Description
Circular blue and white enamelled hinged box with blue base and mottled blue lid. The lid features a white angular ribbon design incorporating the Olympic rings and Melbourne City Council coat of arms. The lip of both the lid and the base is of gold metal.The interior is white with black printed text on the underside of lid that bears a logo and text. It reads 'GAMES OF THE XVIth OLYMPIAD / 1956 / MELBOURNE / COPYRIGHT C.I.O.1985. On the underside of the base is the oval stamp of the maker. There is also printed text that reads 'MADE IN ENGLAND / BY CRUMMLES & CO.'. Housed in white silk-lined card box with gold trim and text that reads 'ENGLISH / ENAMELS / by / Crummels'.
