Brief Description
This booklet contains the text - in French and English - of speeches made at the Melbourne Town Hall prior to the opening of the Olympic Games in 1956. English text on the front cover includes 'SPEECHES AT SOLEMN OPENING OF/ THE CONGRESS OF THE/ INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC/ COMMITTEE/ ...'. The speakers were The Honourable Robert Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia and President of the Australian Olympic Federation; Mr Avery Brundage, President of the International Olympic Federation; and, Sir Dallas Brooks, Governor of Victoria.
