Brief Description
A 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games competitor's badge, worn by Malayan featherweight weightlifter, Koh Eng Tong. The badge features, in the centre, the 1956 Melbourne Olympic Games emblem, comprising of a flaming torch mounted onto the location of Melbourne, on a map of Australia. The Olympic rings feature above the torch. Around the emblem is a raised text, embedded in a red enamel field, reading, "OLYMPIC GAMES / MELBOURNE 1956". The back of the badge features the manufacturer's details, as well as the badge number '8157'. A flared white ribbon stitched around a small flange at the base of the badge features the printed text: 'WEIGHTLIFTING'.
