Brief Description
A Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games badge issued to Assistant Team Manager of Australia, Tom Wigley. The gold gilt with white enamelled border on the badge, and the multi-striped Olympic ribbon attached below symbolise Wigley's high official position at the 1956 Games. The badge features the emblem of the 1956 Games, of a flaming torch above a map of Australia, with the Olympic Rings across the centre. Inscription within the white border reads: OLYMPIC GAMES/MELBOURNE 1956. As well as the Olympic ribbon for officials, a green ribbon is also attached to the badge. On the back of the badge is the engraved number: 207.
