Brief Description
A 32-page (cover exclusive) programme. Front cover features the Olympic Rings emblem, and a colour photo print of Melbourne from the Yarra River. Inscription on front: 'OLYMPIC GAMES/MELBOURNE 1956/OPENING/CEREMONY/MAIN STADIUM (MELBOURNE CRICKET GROUND)/THURSDAY NOVEMBER 22ND 1956 AT 3.00 P.M./OFFICIAL SOUVENIR PROGRAMME/TWO SHILLINGS'. The back cover features a black and white facsimile of the obverse of the 1956 Olympic Games commemorative medal, designed by Andor Meszaros.
