Object Detail

Brief Description
A postcard printed in 1985, featuring the two emblems for the upcoming 1988 Seoul Olympic, and Calgary Winter Olympic Games.
The Seoul emblem features a blue, red, and gold samtaeguk pattern above the Olympic rings. A samtaeguk is a traditional Korean pattern and it is a symbolic representation of Korea, because it is widely used in a variety of Korean folk crafts and architecture.
The Calgary emblem consists of a red, stylized, pentagonal snowflake, above the Olympic rings. It can also be seen as a stylized maple leaf, the national emblem of Canada. Composed of different letters ā€œCā€, it also represents both Canada and Calgary.
