Brief Description
Postcard of a poster. Full colour facsimilie of the 1948 London Olympic Games poster. It features an illustration of the British Houses of Parliament, with the Big Ben clock as the main focus. Big Ben is reading 4 o'clock, which was the scheduled time for the Opening Ceremony of the 1948 Games. In front of the building is the ancient Greek sculpture, the Diskobolos, harking back to the ancient spirit of the Olympic Games. In front of the sculpture is the Olympic rings emblem. Inscription: 'OLYMPIC GAMES/29 JULY 1948 14 AUGUST/LONDON'. Poster was designed by Walter Herz, and was reproduced as a postcard by the I.O.C. in 1984.
