Brief Description
Australian First Day Cover of the Melbourne Olympic. The cover features a pale blue and gold emblem which includes the Australian coat-of arms, image of Mercury and winged globe on oval background with border text 'POST OFFICE COMMUNICATIONS', gold scroll with text 'FIRST DAY COVER'. The envelope is addressed to 'L.Harley/ ... / West Brunswick' and bears a 4 penny Australian stamp with Olympic Rings, and text 'XVIth OLYMPIAD/ MELBOURNE 1956'. The cover was stamped at the 'MAIN STADIUM' on '22 Nov 1956'.
