Brief Description
Two Japanese medals awarded to swimmer John Birnie Marshall on 20th August 1950. The medals, one gold and one silver, feature a figure of a mermaid on one side below the text: "TO YOUR HONOUR". Engraved on reverse in Japanese are the race details, date and what is believed to be the sporting organisation's name.
