Brief Description
A 10-section, fold out pamphlet, featuring information for prospective tourists to Melbourne during the upcoming 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The front features a colour lithograph image of the Olympic rings above two naked athletes passing an Olympic torch. Behind them is a map of Australia, with the location of Melbourne spotted, in the background. Inscription: 'OLYMPIC/GAMES/MELBOURNE/22 Nov~8 Dec 1956'. Pamphlet features maps for the location of Olympic venues and the Olympic Village, including individual colour lithographic drawings of the M.C.G., Olympic Park, and Olympic Village housing. Also featured is information regarding the preparation for the Games, a history of the Ancient and Modern Games, Australia's Games involvement and achievements, an Official Programme for Games events, and information for tourists wishing to further explore Australia post-Olympics.
