Brief Description
A first day cover, used; issued in Olympia, Greece on 2 November 1956; commemorates the transportation of the Olympic Flame from Athens to Australia on a Qantas aeroplane, during the 1956 Olympic Games Torch Relay. Two Greek stamps and two Greek postmarks feature on the front. Addressee's details typed on front at lower right. Left side of cover features an illustration of a flaming Olympic torch, behind coloured Olympic Rings, banked by "ATHENS TO / AUSTRALIA" and "OLYMPIC / TORCH / FLIGHT". Red oval with white "QANTAS" at base. A commemorative mark from Australia features on the back.
