Brief Description
A 52-page copy of the 'Sporting News' (02 August, 1961. Vol. 152, No. 2), featuring on the cover a cartoon of the Boston Red Sox team and officials, after it was announced their home ground, Fenway Park, was to play host to the XXXIst (1961) All-Star Game. Special interest is given to an article on page 37, entitled: 'Plan for Major Clubs' Tour of Orient in Fall Cancelled' by Jack Ellis, the Secretary of the Australian Baseball Council, who had lobbied hard to bring M.L.B. All-Star teams to Australia in 1961.
