Brief Description
Black and white photograph of cyclist Chris Wheeler and some of the 1936 Australian Olympic Team inside the Olympic Village. The photograph is taken in front of the entrance door of their accommodation house, Wheeler is standing in front of the doorway. The accommodation is house no 43, named “Haus Worms”, as part of the houses used by the Australian Olympic Team. The name plate shows an icon of St Peter's Cathedral of Worms and a grapevine. The boy standing to the left on the first step is a member of the Jugendehrendienst (Honorary Youth Service). His white uniform includes a cap, a jacket and shorts with long socks. The second man from the left on the ground is an attendant from North German Lloyd working in the house. He wears black trousers, a white jacket and a sailor hat. Reverse has printed and handwritten text, reads, "The Australian Quarters at Olympic Village".
