Brief Description
Trophy, presentation balls; consists of two used cricket balls made from red and brown leather. Balls have been screwed onto silver stems, and mounted onto a wooden display stand. The stand also features four metal plaques which include engraved inscriptions: "Presented to the Melbourne Cricket Club / by the Victorian Cricket Association / on the occasion of the Centenary of the V.C.A. / 4 October 1995"; "T.J. Matthews Trophy / for a unique Bowling feat, / THE DOUBLE HAT TRICK. / in Triangular Test Series at Lords. / 27'5'1912". The two smaller plaques detail the two aforementioned hat tricks. Balls consist of four panels; each ball has been stitched around the centre with six rows of twine stitching.

The plaque on this trophy is incorrect. The match was at Old Trafford not Lords, and the two hat-tricks occurred on day 2, the 28th not the 27th.
