Object Detail
Brief Description
Black and white photograph of Les Harley, Dick Garrard, Percy Oliver and Chris Wheeler, taken in the Berlin Olympic Village in 1936. They are standing between the accommodation houses of the Australian Olympic Team. Their luggage can be seen behind them loaded to a truck. Harley wears the white cap of the uniform of the Jugendehrendienst (Honorary Youth Service), which he probably took as a souvenir. Oliver and Wheeler wear Turkish style fezes which could have belonged to other athletes. Reverse has handwritten text that has the names of the men and reads, in part, "taken the day we left Berlin...".
