Object Detail

Brief Description
A clipping from a San Francisco newspaper featuring an article and image regarding the inaugural Cable Car Festival, held at Union Square, San Francisco, April 1955. Clipping was sent by Dorothy Burley to Australian sprinter, Winsome Cripps, as a nostalgic reminder for Cripps of her stay in San Francisco in August, 1954, after the 1954 Vancouver British Empire and Commonwealth Games. Burley has highlighted a couple of San Francisco landmarks featured in the image, including the St. Francis Hotel, which Cripps became familiar with during her stay.
