Brief Description
Thirteen official programmes for the 1956 Olympics. These are for Association Football, Gymnastics, Cycling, Boxing, Athletics, Rowing, Shooting, Swimming, Yachting, three for Hockey and one for the Football Final and Closing Ceremony. All but the last programme listed have a white cover with different a coloured print and band at the top and bottom (depending on the sport) and feature at the top the Melbourne Olympic Games emblem and below an illustration of the sport and venue details and dates. The Football Final and Closing Ceremony programme has a white cover with black print, a photograph of the stadium on left side and a black and white picture of the obverse of a gold medal on the right side above most of the text.
