Brief Description
Trophy composed of 4 parts, trophy body, lid, insert and base. Trophy, "FOOTBALL SEASON 1889/ Champion Trophy/ PRESENTED TO/ Mr. John Baker./ the best/ ALL ROUND PLAYER OF THE SEASON/ by the/ PROPRIETOR OF THE PEOPLE'S WEEKLY". Body is a cigar holder; shaped like a football, the top half lifts off. Lid - a small figure of a player about to kick a ball sits on the top of the lid. Insert - a cigar humidor fits inside the football trophy. Oval, bronze-coloured metal, it features 24 holes, and a small oval dish in the centre. Base - dark, wooden, oval plinth with bevelled edges.
