Brief Description
A printed A4-sized card invitation covered by clear plastic film, and enveloped within a blue ribbon lined white card folder; [invitation now loose in folder]. Front of folder features an expressed relief design of the Olympic rings emblem crowned by the Melbourne coat-of-arms. Plastic film features a design of a flaming torch in front of the Olympic Rings, with the text below: 'XVITH OLYMPIAD/MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, 1956'. The unused invitation, composed by the Chairman of the 1956 Games Organising Committee is addressed to National Olympic Committees (NOC) from around the world to sent delegations to compete at the 1956 Games.
