Object Detail

Brief Description
A padded, brown leather covered autograph book, titled on the inside front cover, "Olympic Games / Melbourne, 1956". Features autographs of athletes and trainers from a number of nations participating in the 1956 Games, but most common are those of USA athletes, particularly the boxing team. Also contains two small pieces of paper inserted into the book with more autographs, and four newspaper clippings regarding the USA boxing team's performance, particularly the performance of flyweight, Ray Perez. Perez was the shortest, lightest, and youngest (only 17 years old) member of the USA team, and was a friend of the autograph collector. Autograph book owner's details recorded on inside of back cover.
