Object Detail

Brief Description
Aerial photograph of the Melbourne Cricket Ground, showing the construction of the Southern Stand in 1935-6. The photograph is pinned to a piece of thick paper which has a hand-drawn sketch of the new stand's position in the ground and a side elevation, indicating the position of terraces and seating areas. The photograph shows an aerial view of the MCG from the northwest during a football match, perhaps a Grand Final. The ground is filled with spectators. Most of the Southern Stand is completed but only half of the roof has been erected.
