Brief Description
Silver commemorative medal presented by the German Olympic Society on the occasion of the Melbourne 1956 Olympic Games. Features on the obverse, a bas-relief design of a naked youth on horseback, carrying a flaming torch. Below is an inscription in Greek, reading: 'DAIMAKHOS'. A monogram comprising the initials 'H.A.P.' feature above the horse's tail. On the reverse is the inscription, in German: 'EHREN/PLAKETTE/DER/DEUTSCHEN/OLYMPISCHEN/GESELLSCHAFT'. Medal is in a white case with blue felt base.
