Brief Description
Original watercolour by Robert Ingpen depicting uniformed figures saluting in front of the flag of the United States of America. The artist's image number - 73 - and caption - 'US MARINES & AUST AIRFORCE AT MCG' - are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. The ground was occupied by troops from 1942. Football matches resumed at the MCG in August 1946.
