Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian off-spin bowler, Ian Johnson (1917-1998). The artist's image number - 82 - and subject's name and country are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Johnson played 45 Tests between 1946 and 1956 - 17 as captain. He captured 109 Test wickets at an average of 29.19, scored 1000 runs, and took 30 catches. Johnson's 1st class total of 619 wickets included 132 at the MCG. He was Secretary of the Melbourne Cricket Club from 1957 to 1983.
