Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian batsman, Sid Barnes (1916-1973). The artist's image number - 77 - and subject's name and country are handwritten below the design, with a pencilled date '1945'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Barnes played 13 Tests, one before WWII in England in 1938, and the remainder from 1946 to 1948. He made 1072 Test runs, with a highest score of 234, at an average of 63.05.
