Object Detail

Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Test leg-spin bowler, Bill 'Tiger' O'Reilly (1905-1992). The artist's image number - 62 - and subject's name and country are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 27 Tests (1932-1946), O'Reilly took 144 wickets at an average of 22.59. Bradman regarded him as the best bowler in the world in the 1930s. In 1996, O'Reilly was an inaugural inductee into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
