Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Denis Cordner (1924-1990). The artist's image number - 81 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Denis Cordner played 152 games and kicked 82 goals for the Melbourne Football Club (1943, 1948-56). Two times Best & Fairest winner (and three times runner-up), Cordner captained Melbourne from 1951 to 1953.
