Object Detail
Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Les Foote (1924-2006). The artist's image number - 80 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design, with a pencilled year '1948'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Foote played 134 games and kicked 105 goals for North Melbourne Football Club (1941-51). He won three club Best & Fairest awards, and captained the first North side to make a Grand Final, in 1950. Later, he became captain-coach of St. Kilda (1954-55) with whom he played 33 games and won his fourth Best & Fairest.
