Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Bertrand Deacon (1922-1974). The artist's image number - 76 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design, with a pencilled year '1947'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Deacon, a creative half-back flanker, played 106 games for the Carlton Football Club (1942-51). He was a member of the premiership sides of 1945 and 1947, won a Brownlow Medal in 1947, and represented Victoria on eleven occasions.
