Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting legendary Australian Rules footballer, 'Captain Blood' - Jack Dyer (1913-2003). The artist's image number - 74 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Dyer played 312 games and kicked 443 goals for the Richmond FC (1931-49), was captain coach for nine years (1941-1949), and then non-playing coach for two (1950-51). He won his club's Best & Fairest six times, was a member of two premiership teams, and a Victorian state player 14 times.
