Object Detail
Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Harry Collier (1907-1994). The artist's image number - 59 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled notation '1930'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Collier played 253 games and kicked 299 goals for Collingwood Football Club (1926-40), was Best & Fairest twice (1928, 1930), and represented Victoria nine times. He was a member of six premiership sides, and was retrospectively awarded a Brownlow medal for 1930 (following his brother's 1929 medal).
