Object Detail

Brief Description
Original Robert Ingpen watercolour depicting Australian Rules footballer, Horrie Clover (1895-1984). The artist's image number - 53 - and subject's name and club are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled notation 'MID TWENTIES'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Clover, a centre half-forward, played 147 games and kicked 397 goals for Carlton Football Club (1920-24, and 1926-31), and represented Victoria nine times. He contributed many more years to football as an administrator for Carlton and the Victorian Football League.
