Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's watercolour image of Australian Rules footballer, Ron Barassi, in Melbourne Football Club jumper. The artist's image number - 107 - and subject's name and club (as depicted in this image) - are handwritten below the design, with the date '1958'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. Barassi played 204 games and kicked 195 goals for the Melbourne FC between 1953 and 1964 - including six premiership sides; and played 50 games for 35 goals with Carlton FC, 1965-69. He coached Carlton and North Melbourne to two premierships each. Later, he coached Melbourne, and the Sydney Swans.
