Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian fast-medium bowler/all-rounder, Alan Davidson. The artist's image number - 103 - and subject's name and country, are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled dates '1953-63'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 44 Tests between 1953 and 1963, Lindwall took 186 wickets at an average of 20.53, and scored 1,328 runs at 24.59. 'The Claw' also took 42, often difficult, catches. In 2004, Davidson was inducted into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
