Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian leg-spin bowler, Richie Benaud (1930-2015). The artist's original image number - 95 - and subject's name and country, are handwritten below the design, with the pencilled dates '1952-1964'. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 63 Tests, Benaud captured 248 wickets (then an Australian record) at an average of 27.03, made 2201 runs at 24.45, and took 65 catches.
