Object Detail

Brief Description
Robert Ingpen's original design of an image of Australian opening batsman, Colin McDonald. The artist's original image number - 94 - and subject's name and country, are handwritten below the design. A sheet of tracing paper, with grid lines and references, folds over the artwork which is signed and dated by the artist. The image is included in a tapestry celebrating 150 years of performances and events on the MCG. In 47 Tests between 1952 and 1961, McDonald made 3107 runs - including five centuries and 17 half-centuries - at an average of 39.32. He made 91 in the series-deciding Fifth Test against the West Indies at the MCG in 1960-61.
